Overview
Garage Door Sensor Repair & Replacement in Monponsett, MA
The pair of small sensors near the bottom of your tracks exist by legal requirement, and they're also one of the top reasons an opener suddenly refuses to shut the door. Dust buildup, a stray cobweb, harsh sunlight, or a bracket that got bumped can all throw the alignment off just enough to trigger a false reversal.
IronGate Garage Services realigns, cleans, and swaps sensors on Monponsett, MA garage doors as one of our most requested same-day fixes. Before replacing any sensor unit, we always rule out the simpler causes first, since a quick cleaning and realignment solves this more often than people expect.
Signs You Need This Service
- Door reverses the moment it starts to close
- A steady or blinking light on either sensor unit
- Door won't close at all, even with a totally clear path
- One sensor bracket looks bumped or knocked out of place
- Sensor lens appears dirty, foggy, or worn from sun exposure
Our Process
How We Handle Garage Door Sensor Repair & Replacement
Alignment verification
We confirm both sensors are facing each other squarely at matching height using a level, not just a quick glance.
Lens cleaning
Grime, cobwebs, and dust on the sensor lenses get wiped clean, since buildup alone can block the beam entirely.
Wiring inspection
Sensor wiring gets checked for nicks, pinches, or chewed insulation that can interrupt the signal on and off.
Replacement when warranted
If a sensor has actually failed internally rather than just drifted out of alignment, it's replaced and paired back to the opener.
Why IronGate Garage Services
What You Get With Every Job
We check the cheap fix first
Simple alignment and cleaning problems always get ruled out before we recommend replacing a sensor.
Wiring gets checked too
Since intermittent faults often come down to wiring, we trace the full run instead of only looking at the sensor unit itself.
Brackets get secured
Loose or bent mounting brackets are tightened up so your sensors hold their alignment going forward.
Usually done in one trip
Sensor problems are among our quickest repairs, often wrapped up in the same appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About Garage Door Sensor Repair & Replacement
This is almost always a safety-sensor issue — misalignment, a dirty lens, or something briefly interrupting the beam. Openers are built to refuse closing if they can't confirm the path is clear.
Sometimes — try gently nudging the bracket until both sensor lights turn steady instead of blinking. If that doesn't fix it, call 1 (833) 652-7571, since a wiring fault can look exactly like a simple alignment issue.
Less often than most people think. The vast majority of sensor complaints get resolved with cleaning and realignment alone. Replacement typically only comes up after physical damage or years of sun exposure wearing down the internal parts.
